De Kalb County Farm Bureau, Sycamore, Illinois
This is a 41,500 SF facility consisting of the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, local government agencies, credit organizations, insurance carriers, and other agricultural support organizations. Shared facilities include an auditorium, multi-purpose room, and training room. The architecture of this facility draws upon the usage of rural agricultural structures. In 1993, Larson and Darby began looking at the original facility and completed feasibility studies for the 35-member board. After completion of the studies, design work began in August of 1994 and bid documents were completed in April of 1995. At each phase of the design process our team worked with the DeKalb County Farm Bureau’s 35-member board for approvals. Construction began in August of 1995 and our client moved in during June of 1996.
“They spent the time to understand who we are and what we’re trying to accomplish before they started the design…Our tenants are very pleased…They like the atmosphere, the working conditions, and the image.”
Doug Dashner, Manager, DeKalb County Center for Agriculture
